Batley

History

Batley and the neighbouring towns of Birstall and Dewsbury are renowned for their history and textile heritage with the valley’s woollen industry still in evidence today. .

Batley remained a small village until the late 19th century when it rapidly expanded with the development of the textile trade. Now it is home to many architecturally wonderful buildings, many from the Victorian era.

Today, Batley is a thriving community that has a rich cultural and commercial foundation. Ideally located close to the M1 and M62 motorways and the commercial centres of Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield the town offers everything required of modern easy living right on it’s doorstep.
